SeeYa

SeeYa is a platform that helps personal trainers and their clients stay organized and connected. The mobile app allows trainees to track personal goals, diet plan and document workouts. While the web app enables trainers to manage clients, plan sessions and access all data in one place.

The Problem

The existing platform used by the trainers & trainees was inefficient, poorly designed and lacked synchronization between its components. The app’s current user experience frustrated trainees and interrupted their ability to track progress and stay engaged

Challanges

This project came with a few unique challenges that really shaped how I approached the design. I had to think not only about how the app looked, but how it felt to use. Motivating, adaptable, and perfectly in sync for both trainers and trainees.

Motivation Through Design

Turning a functional fitness tool into an experience people actually want to use every day. It needed to feel motivating and personal and not just another task on their to-do list.

Designing for Real-Life Flexibility

Fitness isn’t static. Users needed the freedom to adjust their meals, workouts, and goals while still keeping a sense of structure.

Platform Synchronisation

With most training happening online, trainers needed real-time visibility into each trainee’s progress to give feedback and track consistency.

Research

To understand the problems and opportunities for improvements, I collaborated closely with See (the product owner). Together, we looked at the existing platform, discussed it’s pain points and dug into the needs of both trainers and trainees.

We also conducted a few short quizzes for trainees to learn more about their habits, motivation, and how they use the app in their daily routine. However, most of the deep research came from understanding See’s philosophy. Her approach to fitness, nutrition, and habit-building, which sits at the core of the product. The app needed to reflect her method while evolving into something more flexible, modern, and aligned with her growing vision.

Translating an Offline System into a Digital One

A big part of the research was understanding how to take See’s manual systems (binders, papers, and spreadsheets), and turn them into a smooth digital experience. I had to figure out which parts belonged in the trainer dashboard and which made more sense for the trainee app. This process helped reveal missing tools and opportunities to simplify her workflow, designing new digital features that could finally replace her old manual tracking methods.

Making the App Part of Users’ Daily Life

One of the biggest questions I wanted to solve was how to make the app something people actually want to open every day, not just a static tool for checking menus. I looked into ways to add motivation and rhythm to the experience, taking inspiration from social apps that encourage daily engagement. This led to ideas like gamification, daily goals, and progress tracking. Making the app feel more alive, flexible, and rewarding to use.

Takeaways

SeeYa was my first freelance project and it taught me many things. Both about my skills and working independently. I learned how to communicate with a client, manage expectations, and make design decisions on my own. It pushed me to take full ownership of the process. Most importantly, it showed me how much I’m capable of when I trust my instincts and stay curious!
